Dell Dimension 4600 - Radeon 9250 128 MB 64bit graphics card. Dell 1703 monitor FP (digital) not shown by device manager. How can I renew it? Years ago, in ignorance, I think that I deleted this piece of software and have been running with the analogue version since an expensive and ineffective attempt to fix the problem with Dell phone-support. I have resisted loading SP3 because this denied me the ability to use the monitor in 'Portrait' mode. Only in 'Landscape' mode could I get an acceptable screen resolution. Yesterday, because of the very slow speed of my computer and the sugestion that I might have a virus in spite of my Norton 360 indicating to the contrary, I gave in and downloaded SP3.
I now have a screen resolution of 640 X 480, no Portrait-mode and System- Restore will not permit me to go back before yesterday! The resolution problem appears to be with the lack of up-date for the video-card.
I am hoping that by reinstalling 1703FP(digital) that I can begin to get back to a useful system. As before, I have wandered around the Dell support web-site getting increasingly confused and finding nothing that helped. I hope to have better luck in the forum.
I shall be grateful for any attempt to help. Dear Chris, thanks for this reply. I was aware that both cables should not be used simultaneously but at some point in the past I must have got fed-up with changing them without effect.
Doing things properly: With the DVI cable in place I am left with a black screen and have to use the computer button to turn it off. With the VGA cable connected I get a screen with very low resolution and the message: 'The ATI Control Panel failed to initialize because no ATI driver is installed or ATI driver is not working properly. The ATI Control Panel will now exit.'
Using Device Manager gives me: Display adaptors: Hightech Excalibur Radeon 9250 Hightech Excalibur Radeon 9250 - Secondary Monitors Dell 1703FP (Analog) (only) - Which suggests to me that I'm missing something for Dell 1703 (Digital) Does the download that your 'monitor driver' link indicates, give me this? If this will cure my resolution and my portrait mode problems as well I shall be extremely thankful! I should perhaps have said earlier that all the correct lights show on the back pannel and Device manager consistently reports that devices are working correctly.
Yours sincerely, Aging Dog. Have now 'phoned Dell support who for £30 deduced that the Video card was faulty and a new one was unavailable - best to buy a new computer.
This was the card previously recommended by Dell 'Phone Support to cure my lack of digital - to no effect. Coda 2 0 9 keygen free. Attempted to return the computer to its factory state.
The backup completed O.K. But the next stage didn't. Having nothing to lose, I attempted to re-install the driver for the card from disc. This seemed to work but failed at the last stage and the screen whent black! Decided to re-fit the original NVIDEA graphics card. This worked, to the extent that screen resolution could be improved to an acceptable level. Still no 'digital' and no 'Portrait mode'.
Now I just have to decide whether to live with what I have, risk another attempt at downloading SP3 or try again to return the computer to its factory state. Of course I could buy another computer!!

My call, unless anyone can suggest a new trick. Signing off - Aging Dog.
